New kids on the rock

Don’t they grow up fast? Comparing school start day photos year on year you wonder what you are feeding them! Changing over clothes in the wardrobe also makes me thoughtful. Passing down items through the family or onto families that need them and then buying new items from the new collections is so exciting.

The new ranges for Lauren by Ralph Lauren and Ralph Lauren Kids are now in all our stores and I’m almost tempted to buy the kids things one size larger so I can keep them for longer. There are these divine jumpers that have the teddy on them and hoodies which are perfect for wearing under their gilets when they want to look cool and they need to be warm and also great for everyday wear!

This year is all about knitwear and I have my eye on a multicoloured striped textured knit that will go with my smart and my casual gear. It tones with beige and has this year’s on trend colour, pale sage. I can add a polo shirt under it and have the collar popped up, or wear with a skirt and cinch in the waist with a belt or wear with coloured jeans or my favourite blue jeans – assuming I can get in them after a summer of barbeques and St Germain cocktails!

Heading back to the office has been a bit strange but a friend told me she sticks to certain tones for her workwear and then has a multitude of outfits from a few items. I’ll try it out with a capsule collection, but I do like a pop of colour especially when we start to go out straight after work now the kids have their extracurricular activities on again!

Enjoy the new optimism, the new school year and the new season. I’ll be back next week with more store updates.
