Women have it easy in the summer. Almost whatever they wear can easily be made to look like they’ve just stepped off a superyacht with the addition of some big earrings and metallic strappy shoes or a pair of wedges.

Women can use scarves for their hair as a headband to scrape sea-salty hair off their face or as a long tie for a ponytail or bun and the scarf has other uses too upstyle a bag by adding to a handle for a chic continental look, or even twist it or fold it and wear it as a belt – cinching in the waist to automatically make the outfit foxier.

If wearing a polo dress a few buttons can be undone and a chunky necklace added, and adding heels when wearing shorts doesn’t only elongate the leg, but elevates the look too.

In the case of men, they can wear shorts out, adding a polo shirt and a linen shirt left undone over the top with our slip-on suede driving shoes.

Some of the Vilebrequin swim trunks are water-reactive – which means you only see the pattern when wet – and then they are a solid colour when dry-magic! So they can show off their creative side and be chic too. And what fun if they or a waiter spills a drink on them!

The red shorts, for example, paired with a white tee and a navy linen shirt has a nautical twist and so can be paired with white leather pumps or red or blue shoes. We have some linen shirts at 3 for €90 at the moment too… so you can have a choice of shirts to throw over.

Another tip I have for you is to have a stylish drink as the sun goes down. I discovered the Hugo St Germain spritz while on my yacht in Alassio, and I’m a changed woman. It’s a much more refreshing version of the spritz with an elderflower liquor.

Add a handful of mint, and garnish with lime and cucumber for added zing. I’ll be testing out local varieties and update you with my findings soon.
