A Raglan sleeve is a sleeve that extends not only to the shoulder but all the way to the neckline, creating a long, diagonal seam that runs from under the arm to the collar. Its name comes from the First Baron Raglan, Lord Fitzroy Somerset, Commander-in-Chief of the British army, who lost his arm during the Crimean war and needed a comfortable coat with lots of ease of movement.
