Now is the time to start planning adventures whether on the rock or further afield, the boosted can roam in the countryside and travel is less complicated now that testing for many destinations has been removed.
The best thing about travelling now is that there’s less crowding – not just because of Covid but also the time of year. We just returned from a glorious week in Madrid where there were very manageable queues for the galleries and museums, crisp air and the change of scenery we so desperately wanted.
Flights are a reasonable cost too and with just our backpacks, we managed to take everything we needed and have space for a few purchases on our return! These have a handy pocket for your phone and passport and ample space for clothing – we roll ours to avoid creasing and maximise space.
Taking scarf and gloves is advisable – the evenings can be chilly – and although popping in to a bar for a warming whisky is one answer, being comfortable really is key.
I would wear a knitted dress with thick tights and my beloved boots or skinny trousers, a shirt and jumper and my partner takes chinos, brushed cotton shorts and a jumper with a gilet to wear under his coat. We do have a habit of sharing so the new Lacoste unisex set was a tongue in cheek Christmas gift that is already a favourite for both of us.
The colours with the Barbour range are all classic winter shades – so you know that year in, year out, you can wear them. Khaki and navy are such a great combination too and you can add accessories that incorporate the two, or wear with beige, though both also work well with silver grey.

The trick is to have tshirts / shirts to wear under your jumpers so you can wear them repeatedly. We managed a 5 day trip and had space to bring back a set of mini Paella pans and some new shoes too!
So get planning and pack wisely. The 30% OFF End of Season Sale will pay for your trip!
Adios!
