Mums, step mums, girlfriends and partners who look after their other half’s children, mums to be and women who missed out on the chance to be a mother, and to those who lost their mother or child, Sunday the 8th of May is all about you.
It’s a day when hopefully, your work and love is recognised, perhaps with someone else taking the reins and preparing a meal for the family you’ve raised; perhaps you’ll be taken out and given the day off – the only thing on your mind should be what to wear and which dessert to choose!
Now this is the point that I should talk to you about clothing that we sell; the brands, the quality, the variety, the styles, the colours – but all these adjectives refer to you too.
I know all mother / child relationships aren’t wonderful, and this can be driven by either side, and I know from experience that all step mums aren’t appreciated for the discreet relationships they have, and I know from friends the utter sadness of having missed out on the chance to be a mother even though all avenues had been explored are burdens we smile through. And I know of people who are inseparable from their mothers / children and who ‘live’ together, passing on traditions and memories.
So today, whichever of these ‘categories’ (for want of a better word) you fall in, to, celebrate you. Do the things for you that you appreciate. Use your favourite products, wear something you feel lovely in, have your hair and make-up done and have the dessert without punishing yourself, take a moment and be utterly selfish. Indulge in your hobby or promise yourself you will take time for you to discover something that gives you joy!
