Get ready for love!

It’s February and that must mean one thing! Strawberries! Well, they are a hint, red and heart-shaped… it’s Valentines’ Day soon!

While Malta whips itself into a frenzy over the first thing we can actually celebrate properly for a LONG time, let us get you prepared.

1) Plan something special, whether at a restaurant, at home or a place that is special to you two. It really is the thought that counts. You can still go all out even in you are staying in, decorate the house, don’t bring up any niggles that may cause tension and let them do whatever that thing is that usually annoys you, just today. Give your outfit some thought too; be comfortable but still make some effort to look good for yourself and your other half.

2) Write a thoughtful message in your card, even if not a perfect prose, something genuine will mean the world to them, or think of a thoughtful way to pose any big questions you may have! There is lots of inspiration in movies…

3) Dress for the occasion, maybe you’ll wear red, just bear in mind where you go may be cold so layer up so your date doesn’t end in a cold war.

One of the things my partner and I do on milestone days like anniversaries, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day, is to talk about things we wish the other would or wouldn’t do. These aren’t always complaints, small things that just bug the other – often it’s positive points we don’t see in ourselves. Tell us what you do to make your relationship work.

And if you’re still on the hunt for that special gift, have a look at our gift guide to get inspired.
