Don’t you just love this time of year? Spring is most definitely in the air and plans to meet friends and family are in full swing. Wedding invitations have started to arrive, and beach bodies are a work in progress. Luckily, the season is gentle on the senses; the scents of the flora, the delicateness of food flavours, the colours too in the palette of sugared almonds and the much anticipated figolli and budding trees.
These edible colours have transcended into the high street and sky blue, mint green, tangerine, lilac, cotton candy pink and lemon yellow are everywhere. The best thing about pastel colours is that they all go together! You can wear any of them with any of them. Pair with white, denim and beige too to maximise your existing wardrobe.
Adding khaki to the mix does level up your look with the blue, yellow and tangerine being my favourites.
A family lunch over easter probably means a long day and a lot of food... so look at light dresses to which you can add a layer or two, to take you through to the evening. If a picnic or walk is involved, white pumps work well here especially if you haven’t gotten around to having a pedi or buying new sandals! There are so many colours around, but if you can’t choose, go with metallics. Chaps have the choice of suede driving shoes in all manner of colours!
If it’s a smart casual event, menswear is so much easier to choose. Pop a puppytooth jacket on over a polo shirt or linen shirt (Easter signals the international fashion law of it now being acceptable to wear) with chinos or five pocket trousers, and voila!
